We have expert betting tips for the 2021 Players Championship, which is the unofficial fifth major golf tournament.
It has attracted the best players in the world and we look at the best golfers to have a bet on.
There is plenty of value available with bookmakers in The Players Championship markets.
THE PLAYERS Championship Golf Predictions
—
2021 Players Championship Winner – Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy is struggling to put four rounds together this season, but the past Players Champion is getting close.
McIlroy had one bad hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last start and his tournament chances went with it. However, the Northern Irishman is one of the best players in the world and demands respect this week.
He finished in a tie for sixth at the WGC Workday Championship and it was an excellent bounce back after missing the cut at the Genesis Open.
The 31-year-old hasn’t won since 2019 when taking out the HSBC Champions, so it has been a long dry spell for McIlroy. However, he won the 2019 Players Championship, so he knows what it takes to get it done at Sawgrass.
There are plenty of people rooting for McIlroy to rediscover his winning form and we’re backing him in at $15 odds this week.

2021 Players Championship Value Bet – Jon Rahm
It’s tough to rule out the Spaniard and the former world number one should be suited by TPC Sawgrass this week.
Rahm comes off a solid finish at the WGC Workday Championship, but it was his play at the Genesis Open that gave us confidence.
He finished tie for fifth behind the likes of Max Homa, Tony Finau and Cameron Smith. It was an excellent performance and it backed up a strong top-20 finish in the Phoenix Open earlier this year.
Rahm doesn’t know how to produce a bad performance. He finished seventh at the Masters and hasn’t finished worse than 32nd since, which includes numerous top-10 finishes.
He is a player that doesn’t lack confidence and although yet to win a major, Rahm is getting close and The Players Championship is the next best thing.

2021 Players Championship Longer Odds – Sergio Garcia
Sergio Garcia famously had a chance to win The Players in 2013 when putting three balls into the water on 17.
Overcoming that choke hasn’t been easy for Garcia, but The Masters champion shouldn’t be overlooked as a winning chance this week.
Garcia wasn’t far behind the leader at the WGC Workday Championship and he recorded a top-10 finish at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year.
He only needs a few putts to roll in to have a chance. Having played well on the Sawgrass green in the past is a positive, so punters should get value for money.

2021 Players Championship Long Shot – Kevin Na
$101 for a player like Kevin Na is great shopping and we can’t believe he’s paying triple-figure odds this week.
The 37-year-old didn’t play overly well at the Arnold Palmer last week, but he won the Sony Open in January and that form is tough to overlook.
His form has been mixed since that victory, but he added an 11th at the WGC last month to his long list to top-20 performances.
Na is a player that doesn’t need confidence and we will happily recommend taking the $101 odds for the 2021 Players Championship.

Players Championship Top Australian Player – Jason Day
Jason Day shares favouritism with Cameron Smith for Top Australian. We think Day will have a good tournament and fend off his countryman.
One of the better players in the world, Day has struggled with serious injuries over the last few years. It has held him back significantly, but he has been pushing through the pain.
Day comes off a solid showing at the Arnold Palmer and he finished in the top 20 at the WGC Workday. He is a past winner of The Players when going wire-to-wire in 2016, so he knows what it takes to get the job done at Sawgrass.
The value odds are there and we’re expecting a top effort.
