NHL Betting Picks โ€“ Friday March 12th, 2021

Quality teams hit the ice on Friday and we have NHL picks and predictions for three of the best games.

We preview Rangers vs Bruins, Capitals vs Flyers and Lightning vs Red Wings. All three games present NHL punters with excellent value.

NHL Betting Picks

New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins @ TD Garden

The Boston Bruins are the warm favourites to win this game following consecutive losses to New Jersey and New York Islanders.

A bounce-back effort is needed after losing 2-1 on Wednesday, but this team is capable of turning their form around. They are 13-6-4 and with six of those wins coming at TD Garden, it could make the difference.

The Rangers were going along nicely with three consecutive wins, but recent losses arenโ€™t a good sign. They lost 5-1 to Pittsburgh before being outscored 4-2 on Wednesday.

A combined score of 9-3 against the Penguins isnโ€™t good form heading to Boston, which gives up only 2.35 goals per game.

A positive for New York is its form against the New Jersey Devils. The Rangers scored 12 goals in two games, which had to get their confidence brimming.

They scored a 6-2 win over Boston earlier this season, but the Bruins are 3-1 overall. Boston hit back with a 4-1 win in early March and a repeat could be on the cards this Saturday.

Take the short odds with Boston as they should get the job done on home ice.

Bet: Boston Bruins to win

Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers @ Wells Fargo Center

Two winning teams to battle on the ice as the Flyers (13-7-3) host the Capitals (15-6-4). It has been a good start to the season for both teams, but the Capital enters this game with more momentum.

Washington has won four of its last five games, including a 3-1 win over Philadelphia last week. It was a good defensive effort for the Capitals, who would follow it up with a 5-4 win over the Devils.

The Capitals currently have a five-point advantage over Philadelphia in the East Division, so this game is important in the standings.

Philadelphia has only two wins from its last five games, with the victories coming against Pittsburgh and Buffalo. The losses werenโ€™t overly impressive, but the majority of them came on the road.

They are a much better team at home and if Brian Elliott is in goal, they have a better chance of winning. The experienced goalie is 7-2 this season with a save percentage of .919.

However, we canโ€™t look past the Washington Capitals. They have played better ice hockey this season and punters get value odds for the underdogs.

We expect to see plenty of money come for the Capitals on game day, as confidence for the Flyers could dwindle.

Bet: Washington Capitals to win

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Detroit Red Wings @ Little Caesars Arena

It hasnโ€™t been a season to remember for the Detroit Red Wings. They are 7-16-4 and the loser of four consecutive games.

To make matters worse, the Red Wings have lost all three games to Tampa Bay this season, including a 5-1 defeat in February. The most recent loss was a 4-3 overtime defeat, which could give them confidence.

The Lightning arenโ€™t lacking confidence after winning four of their last five games. The only loss came to Chicago 4-3, but they rebounded with wins over Chicago and Detroit.

Tampa Bay scores an average of 3.63 goals per game, which is an incredible average. Detroit scores only 2.11, so there is a massive advantage to the Lightning in the goal scoring department.

Defensive numbers are even better for the Lightning, so they could extend their series lead over Detroit to 4-0 on Saturday.

There are no weak points for this team and although punters have to take short odds, there is still value in the โ€“1.5 markets.

Bet: Tampa Bay Lightning โ€“1.5
