The NHL is in full swing and we have our best ice hockey previews and predictions this Tuesday.
We have picks for Penguins vs. Bruins, Red Wings vs. Stars, and Blues vs. Golden Knights. All three games should be great contests, and punters get value odds.
NHL Betting Picks
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Boston Bruins @ TD Garden
Two rival teams do battle on Wednesday as the 4-2-0 Pittsburgh Penguins travel to Boston to face the 3-1-1 Bruins.
Holding a perfect 2-0 record at TD Garden, Boston has been in good form of late. Following back-to-back losses on the road against New Jersey and New York Islanders, Boston bounced back with consecutive wins.
The Bruins scored a 5-4 win over Philadelphia before scoring an emphatic 6-1 victory last week. It’s good form to bring into this game, as the Penguins have been playing terrific hockey over the past week.
Pittsburgh has rattled off four consecutive victories since losing to Philadelphia two weeks ago. Wins over Washington and New York Rangers hold them in good stead for this game, but it won’t be easy.
Both the Penguins and Bruins are high-quality teams. Pittsburgh has Sidney Crosby, who has scored three goals this season. The Bruins have Brad Marchant, who has also scored three goals from five games.
Boston will likely put Tuukka Rask in goal. Rask owns two wins and a loss this season, so he’s a reliable goalkeeper. The Penguins are going with Tristan Jarry, who owns two wins and two losses.
The Bruins are the current favourites to win, and we think they will get the job done in a close contest.
Bet: Boston Bruins to win
Detroit Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars @ American Airlines Center
Dallas is the firm favourite to win against Detroit after starting the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
The Stars scored an incredible 7-0 win against Nashville to open their 2021 account before scoring a much closer game 3-2.
It was a good start to the Stars season, which is expected to be successful this year. They have shown consistent improvement over the last few years, and Joe Pavelski has put his stamp on the game already.
The centre has scored three goals and four assists from two games, which is more than the Red Wings’ top performer from their six games.
Detroit’s top performer is Dylan Larkin, but the offense has plenty of depth. Bobby Ryan and Filip Hronek are doing excellent work, despite a 2-4 record for the Red Wings.
The Red Wings scored wins over Carolina and Columbus, before losing consecutive games to Chicago. They weren’t competed in the two-game series against the Blackhawks, losing by a combined margin of 10-3.
A big turnaround in form is needed to beat Dallas on Wednesday, and we can’t see it happening.
Bet: Dallas Stars to win
St. Louis Blues vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights @ T-Mobile Arena
After starting the season with five consecutive wins, the Las Vegas Golden Knights suffered their first loss last week.
They were beaten 5-2 by the Arizona Coyotes, but they got back to winning form by beating the Coyotes 1-0 yesterday.
With a perfect 4-0 record at home, the Vegas Knights have made an early statement that they are one of the teams to beat in 2021. Helped that claim is Mark Stone, who has eight points after six games.
Stone has two goals and six assists, and he is the cornerstone of the offense. However, the Golden Knights’ best asset might be in goal.
Mark Fleury is 3-0 in goal this season, and he should get the go-ahead on Wednesday. Fleury is one of the premier goalkeepers in the NHL, and he can often make the difference.
St. Louis is 3-2-1 following a 6-3 loss to Los Angeles Kings. The 2018-19 Stanley Cup champions haven’t found that form so far in 2021, and they have suffered some poor losses.
Colorado defeated them 8-0 in the second game of the season, and they gave up six goals on Monday against the Kings. A better defensive effort is needed to keep the Golden Knights at bay.
Las Vegas is paying a generous head-to-head price, which should be snapped up by punters.
Bet: Las Vegas Golden Knights to win
