NFL Week 5 Tips
Los Angeles Rams vs Seattle Seahawks @ Lumen Field
We were impressed with the Seattle Seahawks when beating San Francisco last week. The 28-21 victory was tough on the road, so returning home is ideal.
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season, and now have to play Seattle on the road. We’re surprised by the $1.73 odds, so we’re happy to take Seattle as the home underdog.
Betting tip: Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks by 7
New York Jets vs Atlanta Falcons @ Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
The Jets finally got off the mark with a win over the Tennessee Titans last week, which was a big upset result.
They face another 1-3 team in the Falcons, but because the game is played in England, there is no home field advantage.
Matt Ryan has been throwing well for Atlanta, so we expect the Falcons to edge clear of the Jets late.
Betting tip: Atlanta Falcons
Falcons by 10
Green Bay Packers vs Cincinnati Bengals @ Paul Brown Stadium
Green Bay didn’t start the season well with a horrible loss to New Orleans, but after three straight wins, they have caught fire.
Cincinnati is also 3-1, but it hasn’t faced the same level of opposition as the Packers. Joe Burrow has looked good at times, but given the experience of Aaron Rodgers, we can’t overlook the Packers.
Punters get a –3 line, which is worth taking.
Betting tip: Green Packers -3
Packers by 7
Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings @ U.S. Bank Stadium
Expectations weren’t high for the Lions and they’re living up to those expectations after starting 0-4.
Minnesota didn’t do much right last week when having a chance to win, but at 1-3, it will be desperate to produce the goods.
The current line is 7.5, but the Vikings should have little trouble putting away the Lions by double digits.
Betting tip: Minnesota Vikings –7.5
Vikings by 10
Denver Broncos vs Pittsburgh Steelers @ Heinz Field
Week 4 wasn’t good for the Broncos or the Steelers, but we have more faith in the Broncos at this stage of the season.
We haven’t been impressed with Pittsburgh, who fell to 1-3 and 0-2 at home. Big Ben looks old for the first time in his career, which isn’t a good sign.
Denver has yet to lose on the road, so take the value available.
Betting tip: Denver Broncos
Broncos by 3
Miami Dolphins vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Raymond James Stadium
Tampa Bay didn’t play overly well against New England, but it got the job done after a potential game-winning field goal hit the post.
Miami looked awful last week, and they’re now struggling to find their composure at 1-3. However, Miami typically plays well against Tom Brady.
The current margin is 10.5 points, which is a big line to cover. Take the Dolphins to keep it close.
Betting tip: Miami Dolphins +10.5
Buccaneers by 7
New Orleans Saints vs Washington Football Team
A close game is expected between two 2-2 teams, but we give the slight edge to New Orleans.
Quarterback Jameis Winston is one of the more enigmatic players in the NFL, but the Saints offence is tough to stop when he’s firing.
New Orleans is the slight favourite to win, and despite playing on the road, it has the explosiveness to come away with the victory.
Betting tip: New Orleans Saints
Saints by 7
Philadelphia Eagles vs Carolina Panthers @ Bank of America Stadium
Carolina has made a good start to its season with three wins and one loss. Sam Darnold has played well and he’s a different player from the one we saw in New York.
Philadelphia is capable of producing the goods, but punters are always taking a risk. Jalen Hurts hasn’t shown enough consistency is get our support this week.
Backing the Panthers to win is a safer bet.
Betting tip: Carolina Panthers
Panthers by 4
Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars @ TIAA Bank Field
The Titans suffered a shocking loss to the Jets last week, but they should get the better of Jacksonville on Monday.
The Jaguars looked to have the game won against the Bengals last week, but the lack of clutch play continues to haunt them. Coach Urban Meyer has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons, so it’s not a good situation.
We expect Derrick Henry to run all over them.
Betting tip: Tennessee Titans –4
Titans by 10
New England Patriots vs Houston Texans @ NRG Stadium
The Patriots had a chance to beat Tampa Bay in the rain last round, but they came up short. However, there were positives to take out of it.
Mac Jones handles pressure well for a rookie, and he should have little problem producing the goods against a woeful Texans outfit.
Bookmakers have 8.5 points between them, which is a sizable number, but it shouldn’t be enough for the Texans to cover.
Betting tip: New England Patriots –8.5
Patriots by 12
Chicago Bears vs Las Vegas Raiders @ Allegiant Stadium
The Raiders couldn’t get past the Chargers on Tuesday, but they did well to come back from a 21-0 deficit.
It was their first loss of the season, and although the Bears looked good beating Detroit, the level of opposition wasn’t high.
Playing at home should give the Raiders the edge, and the 5.5-point line is generous.
Betting tip: Las Vegas Raiders –5.5
Raiders by 13
Cleveland Browns vs Los Angeles Chargers @ SoFi Stadium
It’s hard to not be impressed by Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. They looked good beating the Raiders last round, and they can handle the Browns.
Cleveland did well to beat Minnesota, so we’re not downplaying their ability. However, we think the Chargers have more upside on both sides of the ball.
$1.83 for the home team is a price worth snapping up.
Betting tip: Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers by 6
New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys @ AT&T Stadium
The Giants vs Cowboys is always a close contest, but the Cowboys look the much better team in 2021.
They are 3-1 after an impressive win, and Dak Prescott has found his rhythm, which is dangerous for the Cowboys’ opposition.
New York showed some improvement last week, but it’s not the team that consistently turns up.
Betting tip: Dallas Cowboys -7
Cowboys by 10
San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals @ State Farm Stadium
The Arizona Cardinals continue to impress after beating Los Angeles last week, so they’re a team to follow.
Kyler Murray has been scorching the turf with 1273 yards after only five games. He’s on track for a huge season, and with home ground advantage, the Cardinals could put up a big number on the visiting 49ers.
San Francisco has looked good at times, but it’s not the best offensive team.
Betting tip: Arizona Cardinals –5.5
Cardinals by 14
Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs @ GEHA Field
Buffalo has its offence humming, but it has a real test against the 2-2 Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.
The Chiefs haven’t had the best start to their season, but Patrick Mahomes is heating up, and playing at home is a big advantage.
If the Bills bring their best game, it should be a thrilling contest. There is value with the $2.24 odds, and that price is too good to pass up for the visitors.
Betting tip: Buffalo Bills
Bills by 3
Indianapolis Colts vs Baltimore Ravens @ M&T Bank Stadium
The Ravens have had their moments in 2021, including a quality win last week. We’re not surprised to see them as favourites to beat the Colts, who finally scored their first win.
It’s only the second home game for the Ravens, so they will enjoy getting back to M&T Bank Stadium, where we expect them to win.
The current spread is –7, but that’s well within the range of the Ravens.
Betting tip: Baltimore Ravens -7
