09/25/2021 NCAAF College Football Picks & Predictions

College football continues this week and we have a betting preview for three of the biggest games on Sunday.

We look the best bets for UCLA vs Stanford, Nebraska vs Michigan State and Kansas State vs Oklahoma State.

Saturday College Football Picks

UCLA Bruins vs Stanford Cardinal @ Stanford Stadium

UCLA has made a good start to the season, but it could have been better after losing 40-37 to Fresno State last week.

The Bruins started their season with a 44-10 win over Hawaii before beating #16 ranked LSU 38-27. That was a statement win, and although defeated last week, it was still a good offensive effort.

There is plenty of improvement to come from quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who hasn’t been at his best. However, running back Zach Charbonnet has run for 243 yards and six touchdowns.

Stanford is 2-1 after beating #14 USC and Vanderbilt. The opening round loss to Kansas State wasn’t ideal, but the Cardinal has been able to turn it around.

They are a no-frills team, which can work against them sometimes. If the Bruins get off to a good start, Stanford could have a hard time chasing.

Bookmakers have UCLA at –4.5, which is a fair line. We think they will win by a touchdown, in what could be a high scoring contest. The Bruins have averaged over 40 points from three games, and we don’t think the Cardinal will keep up.

Bet: UCLA Bruins –4.5 @ $1.88

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Michigan State Spartans @ Spartan Stadium

Michigan State has made a surprising start to the 2021 season after going 3-0. The Spartans have beaten the likes of Northwestern and Miami, which are statement wins.

They scored a terrific 38-17 win over the Miami Hurricanes last week, who were a ranked team. Michigan State is now a top 20 team, and we don’t think Nebraska will put a halt to their winning streak.

The Cornhuskers showed good fight when losing by only seven points to Oklahoma last week, but it’s tough to back up that sort of performance. They were outplayed by Illinois in the opening week, which isn’t a good form guide for the rest of the season.

Their wins came over Buffalo and Fordham, so facing a confident and unbeaten Spartans outfit won’t be easy on Sunday.

We don’t expect many points to be scored, but with the help of playing at home, we give the edge to the Spartans. They won 42-14 in their only home meeting so far this season, so the –4.5 points spread line is worth locking in before it moves.

Bet: Michigan State Spartans –4.5 @ $1.89

Kansas State Wildcats vs Oklahoma State Cowboys @ Boone Pickens Stadium

The Kansas State Wildcats have impressed with three wins this season, including an opening game win over Stanford.

They took care of the Southern Illinois Salukis before beating Nevada last week. The 38-17 win over Nevada is a good form guide, but bookmakers still have the Wildcats as +6 underdogs against the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State is also 3-0 after beating Missouri State, Tulsa and Boise State. The win over the Broncos came on the road, so that was a tough outing.

We haven’t been impressed with either quarterback, but expect most of the action to come at the running back position. Deuce Vaughn and Jaylen Warren have been tearing it up for Kansas State and Oklahoma State respectively, so that’s where the battle will be won.

5.5 points is too much to give the Wildcats, so we’re picking them to keep it close.

Bet: Kansas State Wildcats +5.5 @ $1.89
