10/08/2021 NCAAF College Football Picks & Predictions

College football continues this week and we have a betting preview for three of the biggest games on Friday.

We look the best bets for Temple vs Cincinnati, Charlotte vs Florida International and Stanford vs Arizona State.

Friday College Football Picks

Temple Owls vs Cincinnati Bearcats @ Nippert Stadium

Cincinnati continued its unbeaten run when beating Notre Dame 24-13 last week. The Bearcats are now 4-0, and potentially on the cusp of a playoff spot.

They are scoring 38.3 points per game and allowing only 14.5, which is an outstanding number. Their defense has always been handy, and now the offense is keeping up.

Temple is 3-2 after beating Memphis 34-31. It was a quality victory, but despite its recent run of good form, it should come to an end on Saturday.

We have little doubt the Bearcats are the better team and that’s reflected in betting markets. Bookmakers have Cincinnati at $1.01 to win, so the overall result shouldn’t be in doubt. However, it’s a significant spread.

The current line is 29.5 points, which could be tough for the Bearcats to cover. They are a quality team, but the Owls are good enough to keep this one close.

Bet: Temple Owls +29.5 @ $1.90

Charlotte 49ers vs Florida International Panthers @ Riccardo Silva Stadium

FIU is getting some respect with bookmakers at $2.41, despite going 1-4 through the first five games.

The Panthers won their opening game 48-10 against Long Island University, but it has been struggle street since. They lost to the likes of Texas State, Texas Tech, Central Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

It’s not a good form guide, especially against a 49ers outfit who can produce the goods.

Charlottle is 3-2 having beaten Duke, Gardner Webb and Middle Tennessee. The win over Duke was a massive result for this team, and if it plays anywhere near that level, FIU doesn’t stand much chance.

Even in defeat to Illinois last week, the 49ers keep it close, and that’s credit to this improving team. Quarterback Chris Reynolds owns 11 touchdowns and only three interceptions, so with quality quarterback play on Saturday, we think the 49ers will be much too good.

They’re playing on the road, but we’re more than happy to take the $1.51 in head-to-head markets, and also the –3.5 for more value.

Bet: Charlotte 49ers –3.5 @ $1.92

Stanford Cardinal vs Arizona State Sun Devils @ Sun Devil Stadium

Arizona might be the ranked team after going 4-1, but punters had to be impressed with Stanford’s win over Oregon last week.

The Ducks were ranked third in the country, but they couldn’t find a way to get past the Cardinal in the 31-24 overtime game. It bodes well for the Cardinal, who has won three of their last four games.

However, Arizona State looked impressive when beating UCLA 42-23 last week. It was a comprehensive win, and it has looked good since losing to BYU earlier this season.

The Sun Devils have the statistical edge on both offence and defence, but bookmakers have 13.5 points between them. We don’t think the home side has that much of an edge, especially if Stanford brings the same level of intensity as last week.

Taking Stanford at $5.25 in head-to-head markets is a little too risky, but we’re more than happy to take the 13.5 points. The line could drop as most of the early money has come for the underdogs.

Bet: Stanford Cardinal +13.5 @ $1.85
