10/23/2021 NCAAF College Football Picks & Predictions

College football continues this week and we have a betting preview for three of the biggest games on Saturday.

We look the best bets for Tennessee vs Alabama, Ohio State vs Indiana and NC State vs Miami.

Saturday College Football Picks

Tennessee Volunteers vs Alabama Crimson Tide @ Bryant-Denny Stadium

Alabama suffered a loss to Texas A&M two weeks ago, but despite dropping out of the top four, they got back a week later.

The Crimson Tide bounced back with a 49-9 win over Mississippi State, and with Iowa losing heavily to Purdue, that put them back into a college football playoff position.

They won’t be allowed any more slip ups, and Tennessee could provide a stiff test on Sunday. The Volunteers are 4-3 after losing to Ole Miss 31-26. It was a close game, so they shouldn’t have lost any admirers.

Tennessee couldn’t back up consecutive wins over Missouri and South Carolina, but it only needs to cover a 24.5-point spread to get punters happy. It’s a sizable line, as they typically are when Alabama plays, but we think Tennessee can keep it close.

It will need to get off to a good start, but with quarterback Henson Hooker playing well with 14 touchdowns and only one interception, the Volunteers could force Alabama to win it late.

We can’t pass up the points for the road team in this situation.

Bet: Tennessee Volunteers +24.5 @ $1.88

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Indiana Hoosiers @ Memorial Stadium

It has been a disappointing season for the Indiana Hoosiers, who had high expectations. They are 2-4 after losing to Penn State and Michigan State, and another ranked team comes into town.

All four of Indiana’s losses have come against ranked teams, so we can’t be too harsh on them. However, it defeated Western Kentucky by only two points, so the Hoosiers haven’t done enough to suggest they can beat Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are 5-1 and 3-0 in the conference. They suffered a loss to Oregon five weeks ago, but they have since rebounded with wins over Rutgers and Maryland.

The level of opposition has been much easier than Indiana’s, which is our concern. Ohio State is the $1.06 favourite on the road, and although it’s the better team, we think the markets have the line way off.

We would have priced Ohio State at $1.30, so the 20.5 points for Indiana is a generous offering. It will need to improve, but with the help of playing at home, the Hoosiers should keep it close.

The line could move even further with 20.5 paying $1.95, but we’re happy to take the value available now.

Bet: Indiana Hoosiers +20.5 @ $1.95

NC State Wolfpack vs Miami Hurricanes @ Hard Rock Stadium

The Wolfpack have played their way into a ranked position after winning their last four games.

They lost to Mississippi State 24-10, but rebounded with wins over Clemson and Boston College. Clemson might not be the force it once was, but it was still an impressive performance from the Wolfpack.

Miami hasn’t played up to standard this season. It’s 2-4 after losing to Virginia and North Carolina, which followed a 69-0 win over the lowly Central Connecticut.

Turnovers have once again derailed Miami’s season, and until it starts playing smarter football, it will continue to lose games.

Playing on the road isn’t easy, but our money is with NC State. It’s the form team, and there is a sense of confidence with this unit. Bookmakers also have confidence after installing it at $1.55, so we’re happy to take those odds.

The current points spread is 3.5, but we’re expecting a close game, so take the moneyline odds for insurance.

Bet: NC State @ $1.55
