College football continues this week and we have a betting preview for three of the biggest games on Saturday.
We look the best bets for Oklahoma vs Baylor, Purdue vs Ohio State and NC State vs Wake Forest.
Saturday College Football Picks
Oklahoma Sooners vs Baylor Bears @ McLane Stadium
Despite posting a 9-0 record, the Oklahoma Sooners have slipped down to eighth in the college football rankings.
They haven’t done much wrong in their bid for the playoffs, but they’ll need to post a big win over Baylor to win over the judges.
The Sooners come off a 52-21 win over Texas Tech and quarterback Spencer Rattler has improved as the season has progressed.
Baylor comes off a 30-28 loss to TCU, which was a game there for the taking. It was a big blow to their playoff chances, but they are being respected by bookmakers with home field advantage.
We expected the Sooners to be around –7.5 for this game, so we’re happy to take the –5.5 line. We think the Sooner will win by a touchdown, in what could be a wild and offensive-minded game on Sunday morning.
Bet: Oklahoma Sooners –5.5 @ $1.90
Purdue Boilermakers vs Ohio State Buckeyes @ Ohio Stadium
Ohio State is gripping onto a top four spot after winning eight of its nine games. The Buckeyes come off a 26-17 win over Nebraska, which wasn’t thrilling but it was good enough.
They also had nervous moments against Penn State, but apart from those games, the Buckeyes have been one of the best teams in the country. They average 44.9 points per game on offence and only 19 PPG on defence, so there are no weak points.
Purdue allows only 18.4 on defence, but scoring 24.8 isn’t going to cut it on Sunday. The Boilermakers scored a 40-29 win over Michigan State last week; knocking the Spartans out of a playoff spot.
They also knocked Iowa out of a playoff spot earlier in the season, so they would love to score their third top-four win. It’s a possibility, but bookmakers are giving them no chance.
There is 21 points the difference with the sportsbook, which could be too much for Ohio State to overcome. We think the Buckeyes win, but it could be a two-touchdown game.
Take Purdue to cover the surprisingly big spread.
Bet: Purdue Boilermakers +21 @ $1.90
NC State Wolfpack vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons @ Truist Field
Two top-20 teams battle as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons look to get back on track after losing their first game of the season.
The loss was a 58-55 defeat to North Carolina, which was tough for fans to take. They were in line for a top 10 spot, but now they’ll have to recover and bounce back against a tough side.
NC State lost by a point to Miami before rebounding with consecutive wins over Louisville and Florida State. The defence stood up in those victories after allowing just 27 points combined.
Wake Forest is by far the more explosive team, but how it recovers from a loss will be interesting. Bookmakers have the Deacons as –2 favourites, so a close game is expected.
We think they’re good enough to put the loss behind them and playing at home should make a big difference. A quality bowl appearance is still on the cards, and they’re 5-0 in the conference.
The small line is worth locking in before it moves.
Bet: Wake Forest Demon Deacons -2 @ $1.90
