01/07/2022 NCAAB College Basketball Picks & Predictions

We have betting tips for three of the best college basketball games on Friday, which features some quality games.

Our feature games include Marquette vs Georgetown, Kent State vs Ohio and Xavier vs Butler.

College Basketball Picks

Marquette Golden Eagles vs Georgetown Hoyas @ Capital One Arena

Big East Conference play continues on Saturday when Marquette and Georgetown battle in Washington.

The Hoyas are 6-5 after a solid start to the season. They lost to TCU recently by seven points, but that followed a three-game winning streak, including a big win over Syracuse.

They have yet to play a conference game, so getting off to a winning start against Marquette would give them plenty of confidence.

Marquette is 1-3 in conference play, but its record is better than it looks. The Golden Eagles lost to the likes of UCLA, Xavier, UConn and Creighton, which are all top-level teams.

Their recent win over Providence was an outstanding effort. They won 88-56, so that should give them enough of a boost to get past Georgetown.

We expect bookmakers to have Marquette at value odds.

Bet: Marquette Golden Eagles

Kent State Golden Flashes vs Ohio Bobcats @ Convocation Center

It has been an excellent start to the season for the Ohio Bobcats, who improved to 11-2 when beating Akron 69-63 earlier in the week.

They are riding a six-game winning streak, and although they don’t play the top-level teams, they’re not facing one in the Kent State Golden Flashes.

Kent State is 7-6 following victories over Toledo and Ball State. The Golden Flashes won by a combined three points, so they were close contests and that holds them in good stead.

Most of the early money has come for the Bobcats. They not only get home court advantage, but they are the better team offensively, which should make a difference.

Mark Sears averages 19.1 points per game, and if he hits anywhere near that mark, the Bobcats should come away with their seventh win on the bounce.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Kent State made them work for it, but class should prevail for the Mid-American Conference leaders.

Bet: Ohio Bobcats

Xavier Musketeers vs Butler Bulldogs @ Hinkle Fieldhouse

We love a bit of Big East action and we’re excited for Xavier vs Butler. Both teams are quality outfits on their day and it mostly comes on the defensive end.

The Bulldogs allow only 60.8 PPG and the Musketeers allow 62 points, so we’re not expecting a high-scoring game on Saturday.

Xavier has played the better basketball to start the season after going 11-2. The Musketeers were well-beaten by Villanova last time on court, but they looked good when beating Marquette 80-71 prior to that.

They are still ranked inside the top 25, so that could give them the edge against Butler, which scored only 56 and 48 points in losses to Seton Hall and Purdue.

The Bulldogs can be a tough team to follow. They are a quality team on their day, but there isn’t much consistency in the unit. Their leading scorer averages only 10.6 PPG, and it’s hard to win games with so little offence.

Take the Musketeers to score an important conference win.

Bet: Xavier Musketeers
