College Basketball Picks
Murray State Racers vs Auburn Tigers @ Auburn Arena
Auburn is the ranked team and will start as the overwhelming favourite, but punters shouldn’t underestimate Murray State.
The Racers are 10-1 and match up well against the Tigers. They average 86 points per game on offence and 65.1 on defence, which is better than Auburn.
The Tigers have arguably faced harder opposition, but Murray State’s win over Memphis was a statement performance. The 74-72 win showed that they mean business, so they can’t be overlooked against the Tigers.
Murray State is 2-0 on the road, and although Auburn has yet to face defeat from five home games, we expect the Racers to keep this game close.
Punters should get around +10 points, which is more than enough.
Bet: Murray State
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs Kentucky Wildcats @ Rupp Arena
Consistency has been tough to come by for the Kentucky Wildcats, who are holding onto a top 20 ranking.
The Wildcats are 8-2 and 7-0 at home, but losing to Notre Dame was a big worry. It was a poor performance from the tournament-bound team, but to their credit, they bounced back in fine style last week.
They scored an emphatic 98-69 win over North Carolina, so the likes of Oscar Tshiebwe and Sahvir Wheeler could be back to their best.
We’re not sure what happened offensively in the Notre Dame loss, but they average 82.1 PPG and scoring almost 100 points against North Carolina is an incredible feat.
Western Kentucky has rattled off three consecutive wins, including a win over Ole Miss and Louisville. It’s having a good season and the Hilltoppers could test the Wildcats, so we’re expecting a close game on Thursday.
Jairus Hamilton needs to establish himself in the paint, but if he can score around 16 points, Western Kentucky should cover the spread.
Bet: Western Kentucky
Arizona Wildcats vs Tennessee Volunteers @ Thompson-Boling Arena
The Arizona Wildcats are making their way up the rankings after starting 11-0. They scored an 83-79 win over Illinois, which was their toughest game to date.
They are the best offensive team in college basketball, averaging 91 points per game, which puts pressure on the opposing defence.
Arizona scored 101 points against Northern Colorado last week, but it could struggle to score a big number against the stout Tennessee defence.
The Volunteers limit opponents to only 57.9 PPG, which is fantastic. They have struggled to score the bucket on occasion, especially when losing to Texas Tech 57-52 in overtime.
Playing at home is ideal for the Volunteers, who are 6-0 at Thompson-Boling Arena. We’re expecting a close game, but we’re giving the edge to Arizona. It’s their toughest test, but we think the sixth-ranked team can handle the challenge.
Punters should get value odds for the visitors on game day.
