NBA Betting Picks – Wednesday May 12th, 2021

We have betting picks and predictions for three of the best NBA games played this Wednesday.

Most NBA teams have only three or four games left and playoff spots are still up for grabs. We look at the biggest games on Wednesday, which includes Wizards vs Hawks, Pelicans vs Mavericks and Rockets vs Lakers.

NBA Betting Picks

Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks @ State Farm Arena

Washington has made an incredible run in the second-half of the season and a win over Atlanta would go down well.

The Wizards were unable to beat Atlanta on Tuesday, but it was only a one-point loss. Russell Westbrook stepped up in the absence of Bradley Beal, dishing out 21 assists.

Beal will be sitting out this game, but given how well Washington played without him, it will give them confidence heading towards the play-in tournament.

Atlanta didn’t have a good game plan in the first meeting, but expect a better defensive effort on Thursday. The Hawks have one of the best shooting teams in the NBA, but stopping Westbrook was seemingly impossible.

They have yet to lose to Washington in two games this season and we don’t think Thursday will be any different. Trae Young comes off a big scoring performance and the Hawks will be keen to top the Southwest standings.

They are only a half-game ahead of Miami, so this game has sizable playoff implications. Punters should expect an even betting market, so take the value with the home side.

Bet: Atlanta Hawks to win

New Orleans Pelicans vs Dallas Mavericks @ American Airlines Center

The New Orleans Pelicans are still a faint chance of making the play-in tournament, but a win over the Mavericks is a must.

Losing to Memphis 115-110 on Tuesday was a kick in the guts for a team that is missing its two best players. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram won’t suit up against the Mavericks, which makes life difficult.

Lonzo Ball isn’t a talented enough scorer to get the Pelicans over the line and they’re facing a tough Mavericks outfit, including Luka Doncic.

Dallas is 40-28 and after winning eight of their last 10 team, has risen up the Western Conference standings. Four consecutive wins have put them in a good spot and although Kristaps Porzingis is out for this game, Doncic can do it himself.

The MVP candidate is averaging 28.2 points per game and he leads the Mavs in all major statistical categories. Doncic should be able to get into the paint with ease as there is no Zion to guard the rim.

It’s not good news for Pelicans’ fans and it should be a comfortable win for the home side at American Airlines Center.

Bet: Dallas Mavericks to win

Houston Rockets vs Los Angeles Lakers @ STAPLES Center

LeBron James could return to the lineup against Houston and he needs court time before the playoffs start.

The Los Angeles Lakers had been struggling to compete after losing three of their last four, but a 123-110 win over Phoenix was just what they needed.

Anthony Davis stepped up in the victory and we expect Davis to be a leading figure for the rest of the season.

Playing the Houston Rockets should help, as the Rockets ride a six-game losing streak. They have been playing for a higher draft pick since trading away their best players, so they’re not keen on winning.

This game is all about what the Lakers can find before the playoffs. We hope James takes the court, but if he’s not playing, the Lakers should still score a comfortable win.

Punters should expect the betting line to be around 8.5 points, which shouldn’t give the Lakers too much worry.

Bet: Los Angeles Lakers to win
