2020 NBA Finals Game 2 – Tips, Predictions & Odds

We have expert betting predictions for Game 2 of the NBA Finals between Miami Heat and LA Lakers.

It all went horribly wrong for Miami in the opening game of the series, but they have shown an ability to bounce back this season.

The Lakers are in a good position to go 2-0 up and we look at the best bets for the NBA finals.

NBA Finals Game 2 Betting Tips

Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers Game 2

Game 1 started off with a bang for Miami and they firmed into $1.45 with bookmakers. However, it all changed very quickly and they were soon battling.

Despite holding a 23-10 lead midway through the first quarter, the Heat relinquished the lead before quarter time. We talked about how Miami would need to stop the inevitable Lakers run, but they were unable to do so.

The Lakers were able to build a big lead and despite some small runs from the Heat, they never looked like being beaten.

LeBron James and in particular Anthony Davis had a big game. They torched Miami’s typically stout defense, which was noticeably lacking after the first period.

Losing to the Lakers in Game 1 was expected, but it doesn’t hurt as much as the injuries to their star players. Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo are in serious doubt for Game 2, with Jimmy Butler also nursing an injury.

It doesn’t bode well for a Miami team that relies on those three players to generate their points. In a team full of role players, losing one or two parts is a big deal.

For that reason, Los Angeles has opened as the $1.20 favourites to take a 2-0 lead on Saturday. We are not surprised by the line and if Miami doesn’t have all their stars, they could get ambushed.

We are not expecting James and co to let their foot off the gas. They can smell blood and although it’s early in the series, it could easily be a 4-0 whitewash at this rate.

Most of the betting money will be invested on the points spread line, which is set at 9.5. Since the line opened, most of the money has come for the Lakers, who easily covered the Game 1 spread.

If Adebayo, Dragic or Butler don’t suit up on Saturday, expect that line to move. Therefore, take the –9.5 for the Lakers, as it should represent value later in the week.

The Lakers have Miami right where they want them and we’re not sure the Heat can handle the pressure that comes with the NBA finals.

Tip: Lakers –9.5

Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers Game 2 exotic betting tips

We hit with the total in Game 1 and we are taking the under once again. The total was set at 217.5 on Thursday and it went under by three points, and bookmakers have set a similar line for Saturday’s game.

The current line is 216.5, which should go under. If Miami are down a few players, they are going to have trouble scoring. It will allow the Lakers to score plenty of points, but it could be one-sided action.

We are confident with the Under 216.5 ($1.86).

Punters that had Jae Crowder to score the first basket on Thursday were happy with the big odds, but we don’t think he can repeat those efforts. Instead, we are going with current favourite Anthony Davis.

The former Pelican is coming off a mammoth game and he is the current leader for MVP honours. Davis is $4.50 with bookmakers, which is good shopping for this exotic option.

There is value in the first half markets and we are expecting the Lakers to come out with passion. Therefore, Lakers –5.5 ($1.84) is a good-value bet for punters.

Miami could get blown off the court from the outset, and behind ahead by six points at the half isn’t beyond the Lakers. They were up by 17 at the half in Game 1, despite trailing by 13 points at one stage.
