We have betting picks and predictions for three of the best NBA games played this Wednesday.
It’s the second official day of play, where most teams get their 2020/2021 campaign off to a start.
There are many exciting games on the card, including Heat vs. Magic, Bucks vs. Celtics, and Thunder vs. Rockets.
NBA Betting Picks
Miami Heat vs. Orlando Magic @ Amway Center
Miami and Orlando start their new season on Thursday and we are expecting plenty from the Miami Heat this season.
They were a revelation in the bubble last season and they have a team capable of going all the way. The likes of Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo headline the team, which also has plenty of youthful talent.
Standing in their way of a perfect start are the Orlando Magic, which also has the talent to make the playoffs this year.
They just paid Markelle Fultz $50 million for three years and the former #1 draft pick needs to start producing on the court. He has been a bust so far, but he got his confidence back in the bubble.
Orlando has looked solid in the pre-season, but we think the Miami Heat are the classier team. Miami has guns all over the court and finding a weak spot isn’t easy.
Bookmakers have installed the Heat as $1.46 favourites and –4.5 in the spread. They should be able to cover the spread comfortably in the opening game of the season.
Bet: Miami Heat –4.5
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics @ TD Garden
Two Eastern Conference powerhouses do battle on Thursday as the Giannis and the Bucks travel to Boston.
We think the Celtics could be the underrated team of the season and they will be keen to get their season off to a winning start.
Boasting one of the more impressive rosters in the NBA, Boston should have no excuses this season, providing the likes of Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum don’t take a backwards step.
Milwaukee counters with The Greek Freak and a host of quality players. They aren’t as deep as the likes of Boston, but they have more natural talent than most.
Bookmakers have the Bucks as $1.57 favourites after opening at $1.70, which has seen a flood of money come for the visitors. However, punters are getting value odds for the home side.
Getting $2.31 for the Celtics at home is good shopping and punters should lock in the value.
Bet: Boston Celtics to win
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets @ Toyota Center
It has been a tumultuous off-season for the Houston Rockets, in particular for James Harden, who is staying with Houston for the meantime.
The superstar guard was on the chopping block but failed to sign with another team. That is good news for the Rockets, providing he has enough enthusiasm to play his best.
The Rockets get to play the first game of the season at home and they don’t often get off to a slow start. That bodes well for punters looking to bet on the Rockets, but they can be a tough team to trust.
Oklahoma City Thunder showed improvement last season but the roster looks vastly different. There is no Chris Paul and no Steven Adams, instead they signed Al Horford, George Hill, and Trevor Ariza.
It’s not the best roster in the NBA and they don’t have a clear direction this season, which is troubling.
Both teams will need to make a good start to the new season and we are picking Houston to start better.
Bookmakers don’t have odds out yet, but they should be the favourites.
Bet: Houston Rockets to win
