MLB Betting Picks
Texas Rangers vs New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium
The New York Yankees have an 83-67 record but they are fourth in the American League East and in danger of missing the playoffs.
Their recent form hasn’t helped, which includes heavy losses to the Cleveland Indians. The Yankees lost 11-3 before losing 11-1, so there are problems with the Yankees at the moment.
The same can be said for the Texas Rangers, who are 55-94 after losing four of their last five games. Texas is currently last in the American League West, so there isn’t much to get excited about for the rest of the season.
New York sends out Jordan Montgomery to the mound, who is 5-6. However, his ERA is 3.63, so he has been providing the Yankees with a solid effort.
Texas counters with Dane Dunning, who has slightly worse statistics, but he hasn’t been too bad in 2021.
We give the edge to the Yankees, who are still a chance of making the playoffs. It might be slim, but we think the Rangers will have a tough time putting away the likes of Aaron Judge. New York also holds a 3-1 season record against Texas.
Bet: New York Yankees
New York Mets vs Boston Red Sox @ Fenway Park
The Boston Red Sox have made a run at the right time after scoring five consecutive victories. They have bridged the gap between the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East, but beating the Mets is important.
Boston has been firing on offence, scoring 41 runs over its last five games. If that level of offence continues, the Red Sox should be a force in the final months of the season.
Having Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound is another positive. He might have a high ERA of 5.00, but he’s 11-8 and the Red Sox hit for him. Rodriguez has been one of the more consistent pitchers for the Sox, so his inclusion could drive down the head-to-head price.
New York isn’t out of playoff contention, but it would need to make a significant winning run. Recent losses haven’t helped their cause, but a win 3-2 win over Philadelphia should give them confidence heading into this series.
Marcus Stroman is better than his record suggests. He is 9-12, but with an ERA of 2.88, he should have a much better record. The Mets don’t hit for him, which is a concern.
We’re going with the Red Sox to come away with a home victory. They are 47-29 at Fenway Park, and they’re in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Bet: Boston Red Sox
San Francisco Giants vs San Diego Padres @ Petco Park
The Giants are one of the best teams in baseball, and although they have lost three of their last five games, they’re still in a good position.
They are 97-53 overall, but leading the National League West by only one game over Los Angeles. That means they need to beat teams like the Padres, who are 20.5 games behind.
The Padres are struggling after losing three consecutive games to St Louis. They had won their previous two games against the Giants, so that’s a good form guide for this game on Wednesday.
They also have Kevin Gausman on the mound, who is 14-6. The Padres have the pitching edge, but we the only question is whether they are desperate to win.
Punters should get value for the home team, so we’re adding them to selections. The Giants are the better team, but this is a good situation for the Padres and punters can go to value town.
Bet: San Diego Padres
