MLB Betting Picks – Friday July 2nd, 2021

We have our best value picks for three MLB games on Friday, including Dodgers vs Nationals, Mets vs Yankees and Red Sox vs Athletics.

Bookmakers offer value odds throughout the Major League Baseball season and we have identified the best games to invest on.

MLB Betting Picks

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Washington Nationals @ Nationals Park

The resurgent Washington Nationals have rattled off four consecutive wins and they now send Max Scherzer to the mound.

The Cy Young Award winner is 7-4 with an ERA of 2.14, so his form hasn’t slipped and he is the guy the Nationals want on the mound.

He goes up against the 49-31 Los Angeles Dodgers, who are riding a lengthy winning streak and they have yet to lose in three games against Washington.

Julio Urias is on the mound and he is 9-3. His numbers aren’t as electric as Scherzer’s, but he has been a solid starter for the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is still in second place in the National League West behind San Francisco, so it needs to continue winning. Washington is also in second behind New York, so it’s an important game.

Bookmakers give the slight edge to Washington and we agree. Hitting off Mad Max isn’t easy, and the Dodgers are due a loss.

Bet: Washington Nationals

New York Mets vs New York Yankees @ Yankee Stadium

The Subway Series is always fun to watch as the National League East-leading Mets take on the struggling Yankees.

They have both won 41 games each, but the Yankees are nine games back of Boston in the American League East, so they’re not travelling overly well, especially after losing four of their last five.

However, the Mets come off a disastrous 20-2 defeat to Atlanta, so both teams from the Big Apple need a confidence boost.

The Mets are only 17-24 on the road, and although the game is played in New York, it still counts as a road game. They struggle to score runs on the road and recent signs haven’t been encouraging.

They send Taijuan Walker to the mound, who is 6-3. He is having a solid season and with only five home runs allowed from 79.1 innings pitched, that bodes well against the Bronx Bombers.

The Yankees send out the promising Jordan Montgomery, who is 3-2 and his record should be better. The Yankees haven’t provided him with much run support, but we’re expecting that to change on Saturday.

Bookmakers have the Yankees as favourites, and although it should be a close game, the Yankees should come out ahead.

Bet: New York Yankees

Boston Red Sox vs Oakland Athletics @ Oakland Coliseum

The Red Sox have exceeded expectations by posting a 51-31 record. They enter this game with a significant winning streak and they don’t appear to be slowing down.

Boston leads is division by 3.5 games after sweeping the Kansas City Royals, so the Sox are travelling perfectly entering Saturday’s contest against a tough Oakland.

The A’s have won two of their last three and currently sit at 48-34. They haven’t been as consistent as the Red Sox, but they have a good home record of 26-19 and Frankie Montas is always tough to hit.

Montas is 7-7 and a touch unlucky not to have a winning record. His WHIP of 1.33 ranks well and is ERA is lower than opposing pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, who is 6-4.

Rodriguez owns a 5.83 ERA, which isn’t fantastic. ERA has been a problem for the Sox, but the excellent hitting numbers gets them out of jail.

Punters get value odds for the Sox and we’re happy to include them in the multi. They are firing on all cylinders and confidence is key.

Bet: Boston Red Sox
