2020/21 EPL Week 28 – Picks, Predictions & Odds

Although bragging rights in Manchester went to Manchester United last weekend, City got back to winning ways with a thumping win over Southampton in midweek and are now 14 points clear of the chasing pack. Leicester City are trying to keep pace and their win at Brighton last time out suggested that they are overcoming their injury crisis. Fulham won at Liverpool to add to the growing pressure on Jurgen Klopp and his side whilst West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United need to start picking up points if they are to beat the drop this term.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:

Premier League Week 28 Picks

Newcastle United vs Aston Villa – St James’s Park

Newcastle United ($4)

Aston Villa ($2.1)

Draw ($3.6)

High-flying Aston Villa travel to Newcastle United, who themselves are hoping to stay afloat in the Premier League this term. The Toon were plucky in picking up a point on the road at West Bromwich Albion last time out but with Fulham gaining ground, Steve Bruce’s side now only sit one point clear of the drop zone. Aston Villa have been one of the surprise packages in the league this season and could be sitting in the top 6 of the league if they managed to win their games in hand. Results have plateaued of late, and Dean Smith will be keen to see his side kick on between now and the end of the season. This could be a tighter game than people expect but Villa should just about come out on top.

Betting tip: Aston Villa to win the match ($2.1)

Aston Villa to win 2-1

Leeds vs Chelsea – Elland Road

Leeds ($4.8)

Chelsea ($1.79)

Draw ($4.1)

Chelsea will be looking to maintain their excellent start to life under Thomas Tuchel as they travel to Leeds. The hosts have dropped to 12th in the table with some poor results in recent weeks, but they are a match for anyone on their day and tend to up their game against the ‘bigger sides’. They welcome a Chelsea side unbeaten in all competitions since January and the manner of their comfortable win over Everton last time out was a marker of how far they have come. The blues reside in 4th, only 4 points behind Manchester United in 2nd and they will be hoping to secure their top 4 finish as soon as possible. Leeds will take the game to Chelsea, but the blues should win well on the road here.

Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match ($1.79)

Chelsea to win 3-1

Crystal Palace vs West Bromwich Albion – Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace ($2.28)

West Bromwich Albion ($3.8)

Draw ($3.3)

West Bromwich Albion will be looking to continue their survival bid as they travel to Crystal Palace. The Eagles have been blighted by inconsistency this term and with only one win in their last 5 games, they appear to be mentally checked out for the campaign in 13th place in the table. They welcome a Baggies side with it all to do in terms of their Premier League survival, with Sam Allardyce’s men 8 points adrift in the drop zone – time is running out. This is a huge game for West Brom, and they could pick up a potentially precious point here.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.3)

1-1 Draw

Everton vs Burnley – Goodison Park

Everton ($1.93)

Burnley ($4.8)

Draw ($3.6)

Top 4 chasing Everton host Burnley in what could be an important game in their season. The Toffees were outclassed by Chelsea last time out and currently find themselves in 6th place in the table, knowing that a win in their game in hand would propel them up to within one point of the top 4. They welcome a Burnley side that only sit 4 points above the drop zone and look to have work to do to rubber stamp their Premier League status. The Clarets picked up a great point at Arsenal last time out and could adopt a similar approach here, but Everton are a good side and should pick up all three points in this one.

Betting tip: Everton to win the match ($1.93)

Everton to win 2-1

Fulham vs Manchester City – Craven Cottage

Fulham ($11)

Manchester City ($1.38)

Draw ($5.3)

Champions elect Manchester City will be hoping to wrap up the title as soon as possible as they travel to an in-form Fulham side. The Cottagers were too good for Liverpool last time out and look to be timing their survival bid to perfection. They sit level on points with Brighton above them and with the likes of Newcastle also within touching distance, they know a win here could propel them up the league. Manchester City meanwhile bounced back well from defeat to Manchester United with their midweek triumph over Southampton and they look to have the bit between their teeth once more. This should be an excellent game which Manchester City should just about edge.

Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match ($1.38)

Manchester City to win 2-1

Southampton vs Brighton – St Mary’s Stadium

Southampton ($3.1)

Brighton ($2.64)

Draw ($3.25)

Southampton face Brighton in what promises to be a fascinating South Coast battle. The Saints picked up a good win on the road at Sheffield United last weekend but were well beaten by Manchester City in midweek and their defensive issues continue to rear their ugly heads. They sit 7 points above Brighton who are deep in relegation trouble and can’t seem to buy a win from anywhere. It is now or never for Graham Potter and his side and he will be targeting at least a point on the road here. Neither side is full of confidence heading into this one and it could be a tentative draw at St Mary’s.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.25)

1-1 Draw

Leicester City vs Sheffield United – King Power Stadium

Leicester City ($1.57)

Sheffield United ($7.2)

Draw ($4.3)

Leicester City will be looking to keep their top 4 hopes in their hands as they take on lowly Sheffield United. The Foxes dug deep to win at Brighton last weekend to snap a winless run of 3 games but still find themselves 3rd in the Premier League table and with their destiny very much in their own hands. Sheffield United meanwhile look to be dead and buried at the foot of the table and their 12 point deficit to the sides above them only looks to be getting bigger. Every game that passes is another opportunity missed and Leicester should put another nail in the Blades’ coffin here.

Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match ($1.57)

Leicester City to win 3-0

Arsenal vs Tottenham – Emirates Stadium

Arsenal ($2.64)

Tottenham ($2.9)

Draw ($3.5)

The North London Derby is the headline fixture of the weekend as Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates. The Gunners reside in 10th and look to be a long way away from challenging for European places come the end of the campaign. They are already looking to build towards next year but should be bang up for this one. Tottenham meanwhile are a side improved in recent weeks and the form of Gareth Bale has been a huge positive. Their thumping win over Crystal Palace last time out propelled them up to 7th in the table and they are in the mix for Champions League football next term. This should be a very good game with so much on the line and a draw looks the most likely result.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.5)

1-1 Draw

Manchester United vs West Ham United – Old Trafford

Manchester United ($1.9)

West Ham United ($5)

Draw ($3.75)

Manchester United will be looking to build on their historic derby day win as they take on top 4 rivals West Ham. The reds were good value for their win over Manchester City last weekend but are still 14-points off the pace in the battle for the Premier League title. They welcome a West Ham side in excellent form and their win over Leeds on Monday epitomised just how far the Hammers have come this season. This could be a hugely significant game in both teams’ seasons and Manchester United should just have too much in the tank in key areas here.

Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match ($1.9)

Manchester United to win 2-1

Wolves vs Liverpool – Molineux

Wolves ($5.1)

Liverpool ($1.8)

Draw ($3.9)

Defending Champions Liverpool now look to have a battle on their hands to finish in the top 4 as they travel to Wolves. The home side picked up a solid point on the road at Aston Villa last weekend and find themselves firmly in mid-table going into the last 10 games of the season. They welcome Liverpool who have been very poor by their own standards this term and sit 25 points behind Manchester City in the title race. They also have a 7-point deficit to Chelsea in 4th and need to arrest their slide quickly. This could be a tight game, but Liverpool need the points and should prevail here.

Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match ($1.8)

Liverpool to win 2-1
