Following Manchester City’s last gasp defeat to Tottenham last time out, the Premier League title race is blown open once more, with Liverpool in hot pursuit. Elsewhere, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all picked up wins last weekend to battle on with their respective top 4 endeavours, whilst Wolves and West Ham can’t be discarded from that race either. At the bottom, Burnley won well at Brighton, as did Watford at Aston Villa to hype up the pressure on all the sides in the bottom half of the table.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:
Premier League Week 27 Picks
—
Southampton vs Norwich City – St Mary’s Stadium
Southampton ($1.58)
Norwich City ($6.5)
Draw ($4.5)
A resurgent Southampton side will be looking to continue their excellent recent form as they take on Norwich City. The Saints have picked up some excellent results in recent weeks and they will be relishing the chance to test themselves against a Canaries side in need of points. Dean Smith is still battling away with Norwich but with his side currently sat at the foot of the table, survival looks quite a long way off. This should be an entertaining Friday night football clash and although Norwich will pose the Saints a few problems, Southampton should prevail here.
Betting tip: Southampton to win the match ($1.58)
Southampton to win 2-0
—
Leeds United vs Tottenham – Elland Road
Leeds United ($3.8)
Tottenham ($2)
Draw ($3.8)
Tottenham will be looking to build on their famous win at Manchester City as they travel up to Leeds. The hosts are still in a spot of bother at the foot of the table and are nowhere near out of the woods yet, but they are starting to show signs that a good run of form is around the corner. Spurs meanwhile have really struggled for form in recent weeks, but Antonio Conte will be hoping the win at the Etihad can be built upon here. This should be a good game, between two of English football’s biggest teams, with the draw the most likely outcome.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.8)
1-1 Draw
—
Brentford vs Newcastle United – Brentford Community Stadium
Brentford ($2.58)
Newcastle United ($3.05)
Draw ($3.3)
Two sides yet to confirm their Premier League status face off as Brentford host Newcastle United in West London. The Bees have impressed this term, picking up points at regular intervals but they were well beaten by Arsenal last time out. They take on a Newcastle United side that are in decent form and have started to build momentum in their survival bid under Eddie Howe. This should be an excellent game, between two sides that will be bang up for this and a draw looks a distinct possibility.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.3)
1-1 Draw
—
Brighton vs Aston Villa – AMEX Stadium
Brighton ($2.38)
Aston Villa ($3.4)
Draw ($3.35)
High-flying Brighton will be looking to bounce back from defeat to Burnley last time out as they host Aston Villa. The Seagulls sit 9th in the table and have impressed all season under Graham Potter and they have an outside shot of a European finish this term. Aston Villa meanwhile have hit a bit of a wall under Steven Gerrard and need to start picking up points quickly if they are to climb into the top half of the table. There is very little to split these two sides on paper, making the draw the most plausible outcome.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.35)
1-1 Draw
—
Crystal Palace vs Burnley – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($1.95)
Burnley ($4.33)
Draw ($3.7)
Crystal Palace will be looking to respond from their last gasp defeat to Chelsea as they take on Burnley, The Eagles have had some good moments this season under Patrick Vieira but can’t seem to put the consistent run together that is needed to climb up the table. Burnley meanwhile are still plugging away under Sean Dyche and look to be finding form at the right time in terms of their survival aspirations. Palace will be well fancied for this one and whilst Burnley will put up a fight, the hosts should prevail here.
Betting tip: Crystal Palace to win the match ($1.95)
Crystal Palace to win 1-0
—
Manchester United vs Watford – Old Trafford
Manchester United ($1.35)
Watford ($10)
Draw ($5.75)
Manchester United will be looking to strengthen their grip on the top 4 as they take on Watford. Ralf Rangnick is slowly starting to get to grips with the enormity of the job he faces at Old Trafford, with Champions League and Premier League commitments also weighing him down but he continues to battle away. Watford meanwhile are slowly improving under Roy Hodgson and their win at Aston Villa last time out is a firm suggestion that the Hornets could stay up this season. This task looks too big however and United should win comfortably at home here.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match ($1.35)
Manchester United to win 2-0
—
Everton vs Manchester City – Goodison Park
Everton ($12)
Manchester City ($1.32)
Draw ($6.1)
Manchester City will be looking to get back to winning ways as they travel to Everton. The Toffees are very much involved in a relegation battle currently under Frank Lampard and they need to start picking up wins quickly. Their home form has been solid this season though and they will be looking to put City to the test here. The Champions are still in control of the title race but their loss to Tottenham last time out has perked up the interest of Liverpool behind them. This should be a very good game, with City most likely to pick up the three points.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match ($1.32)
Manchester City to win 2-1
—
West Ham United vs Wolves – London Olympic Stadium
West Ham United ($2.1)
Wolves ($4)
Draw ($3.4)
Two sides in the hunt for European football next season face off in London, as West Ham welcome Wolves. The Hammers continue to go from strength to strength under David Moyes and once again are very much in the mix for a top 6 finish this term. They take on a Wolves side that have also been in fine fettle under Bruno Lage and their recent results have also suggested a top 6 finish is well within their reach this term. There is very little to split these sides, making the draw the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.4)
1-1 Draw
