With both Manchester United and Leicester City dropping points, Manchester City looked to have tightened their grip on the Premier League title. The blues now sit 12 points clear after beating West Ham and have their destiny very much in their own hands. Liverpool got back to winning ways on the road at Sheffield United whilst Aston Villa maintained their excellent form with a gritty win on the road at Leeds. Fulham picked up a potentially crucial point in their survival bid whilst West Brom’s win over Brighton pulled the Seagulls back into the basement battle.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:
Premier League Week 26 (Week 2) Picks
Manchester City vs Wolves – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.24)
Manchester City will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table as they host Wolves. The blues are the runaway leaders in the league and their 20 game winning streak has seen them blow away all before them since the turn of the year. Wolves meanwhile are battling with injuries this term and look set to settle for a mid-table finish. They did the double over City last season however and how the chasing pack would love them to produce the goods again here. This could be a lot tighter game than many expect but City should just about prevail here.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match
Manchester City to win 2-1
Burnley vs Leicester City – Turf Moor
Leicester City ($2.08)
Two sides scrapping at opposite ends of the table face off as Leicester City travel to Burnley. The Clarets got hammered by Tottenham last time out and are very much in the relegation scrap. They have a 5-point cushion on the sides below them but need to keep picking up points. Leicester City meanwhile bombed out of the Europa League before losing to Arsenal in a forgettable week for Brendan Rodgers’s side. This is a huge game in their top 4 aspirations and Leicester should just about get the job done here.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match
Leicester City to win 2-1
Sheffield United vs Aston Villa – Bramall Lane
Sheffield United ($3.75)
Aston Villa ($2.16)
Bottom of the table Sheffield United will know it is now or never as they take on Aston Villa. The Blades are now 15 points adrift in their survival bid and with only 12 games to play, the odds look to be stacked against them. They were well beaten by Liverpool last time out and look to be a lost cause in the Premier League this term. Aston Villa meanwhile have been one of the surprise packages in the league this term and they are very much in the hunt for European football next term. It is games like this the Villains need to win, and they should pick up all three points here.
Betting tip: Aston Villa to win the match
Aston Villa to win 2-0
Crystal Palace vs Manchester United – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($8.4)
Manchester United ($1.47)
Manchester United will be looking to keep the pressure up on their cross-city rivals as they travel to Crystal Palace. The Eagles have been inconsistent this season, particularly at home and they are now prioritising securing their Premier League safety. It has been a tough season for Roy Hodgson, but he will be desperate for a result here. Manchester United are in the midst of an indifferent run of form in the Premier League but could still yet have a say in the title race. They sit 12 points behind City following their draw with Chelsea and it appears a top 4 finish has now become their priority. They should have no issues here though and should pick up a comfortable win at Selhurst Park.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match
Manchester United to win 3-1
Fulham vs Tottenham – Craven Cottage
A London Derby of sorts is on the cards as Fulham take on Tottenham. The Cottagers managed to pick up a point at Crystal Palace last time out and remain 3 points from safety as a result. Scott Parker’s men have shown real resolve this term but need to keep digging in, if they are to plot their route to safety this season. Tottenham meanwhile have lacked consistency this term but their big win over Burnley last weekend could be the catalyst to a successful end of the campaign. Gareth Bale is in excellent form and Spurs should end up picking up a much needed win on the road here.
Betting tip: Tottenham to win the match
Tottenham to win 2-1
West Bromwich Albion vs Everton – The Hawthorns
West Bromwich Albion ($4.5)
Everton travel to West Bromwich Albion as they look to strike a decisive blow in the race for the top 4. West Brom sit 9-points from safety and it is very much now or never for Sam Allardyce and his side. They rode their luck at times to pick up a win over Brighton last time out, but they will be all too aware of the challenge facing them here. Everton meanwhile have been in sublime form this season and look to be brimming with confidence. They broke their Anfield hoodoo in their last away game and look to have genuine top 4 aspirations this term. West Brom will make this difficult for Everton but the Toffees should pick up the win here.
Betting tip: Everton to win the match
Everton to win 2-1
Liverpool vs Chelsea – Anfield
Two Premier League giants face off as Liverpool host Chelsea. The defending champions have dropped off the pace in the race for the title this term, but they are very much in the hunt for a top 4 finish after their win at Sheffield United last weekend. Jurgen Klopp will be keen to see his side put in a strong performance here and they should be up for this one. Chelsea meanwhile are unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel and are also looking to assure their top 4 finish come the end of the campaign. This could be a real tactical battle between two excellent managers and a draw looks to be the most likely outcome.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw
