2021-22 EPL Week 17 โ€“ Picks, Predictions & Odds

Penalties were on the agenda at the weekend as Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United found their winning goals from the penalty spot. COVID 19 is rearing its ugly head in the UK once more, with Brighton vs Tottenham the latest game to get postponed and there will be plenty of sides out to ensure they keep their squads fully fit and healthy over the hectic Xmas period. With plenty to play for at both ends of the table, it promises to be another busy midweek round of Premier League action.

Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:

EPL Week 17 Picks

Brentford vs Manchester United โ€“ Brentford Community Stadium

Brentford ($4.4)

Manchester United ($1.88)

Draw ($4)

Brentford will be doing all they can to build on their late win over Watford on Friday night as they take on Manchester United. The Bees have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season and they look to be on course to achieve their pre-season target of Premier League survival. Manchester United meanwhile have dug in since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, with back to back wins in the Premier League and they look to be pushing for a top 4 finish all of a sudden, this season. This should be a belter, with the atmosphere sure to be red hot in West London but United should just about prevail here.

Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match ($1.88)

Manchester United to win 2-1

Norwich City vs Aston Villa โ€“ Carrow Road

Norwich City ($3.45)

Aston Villa ($2.38)

Draw ($3.3)

Dean Smith welcomes his former side to Carrow Road as Norwich City take on Aston Villa. The Canaries have improved markedly since the arrival of Smith but canโ€™t seem to pull away from relegation trouble properly as yet. They welcome an Aston Villa side that have too kicked on under Steven Gerrard and they look to have a top half finish very much within their sights at the end of the season. This should be a super encounter in East Anglia, with Villa most likely to pinch the points.

Betting tip: Aston Villa to win the match ($2.38)

Aston Villa to win 2-1

Manchester City vs Leeds United โ€“ Etihad Stadium

Manchester City ($1.16)

Leeds United ($23)

Draw ($10)

Table topping Manchester City will be looking to continue their decent run of recent form, as they take on Leeds. City were made to work hard by Wolves last time out but are the reigning league champions and have an inevitable habit of getting the job done. Leeds meanwhile were seconds away from clinching a precious point at home to Chelsea last time out and Marcelo Bielsa will be keen to see his side build on that performance here. Leeds will make this difficult for City and beat them at the Etihad last season, but the blues will want revenge here and should get it.

Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match ($1.16)

Manchester City to win 3-1

Brighton vs Wolves – AMEX Stadium

Brighton ($2.38)

Wolves ($3.6)

Draw ($3.2)

Brighton take on Wolves in what has the hallmarks of an excellent game on the South Coast. The Seagulls took a weekend off last time out due to COVID 19 cases in the Tottenham camp and should return refreshed here against Wolves. They are in decent form under Graham Potter and will be up for this in front of their home fans. Wolves meanwhile are a side that have put in good displays against Liverpool and Manchester City in their last two games, without getting the results perhaps their performances deserved. This should be a really good game, with the draw the most likely outcome.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.2)

1-1 Draw

Burnley vs Watford โ€“ Turf Moor

Burnley ($2.2)

Watford ($3.55)

Draw ($3.6)

Two sides battling it out at the bottom of the table do battle as Burnley host Watford. The Clarets are a side improving under Sean Dyche and they will see this as a very winnable game in front of their passionate home support at Turf Moor. Watford meanwhile managed to blow all three points in their last game at Brentford and they will want an instant response on the road here. The Hornets have plenty of goals in the tank this term and should take the game to Burnley, but this could be a very even encounter in Lancashire, with the draw looking favourite.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6)

1-1 Draw

Crystal Palace vs Southampton โ€“ Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace ($2.2)

Southampton ($3.7)

Draw ($3.4)

Two sides looking to break into the top half come the end of the season face off, as Crystal Palace welcome Southampton to East London. Palace have picked up some excellent results under Patrick Vieira, most notably their excellent win over Everton last time out and theyโ€™ll want to build on that here. Southampton meanwhile had no answer to Arsenal last time out and are increasingly looking as if they could end up in a relegation scrap if they are not careful. Palace are purring at home, and they should pick up another big win here.

Betting tip: Crystal Palace to win the match ($2.2)

Crystal Palace to win 2-0

Arsenal vs West Ham United โ€“ Emirates Stadium

Arsenal ($2.18)

West Ham United ($3.41)

Draw ($3.65)

A classic London Derby looks set to be on the cards as Arsenal host West Ham at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were in great nick in dispatching of Southampton last time out and they look set to be in contention for a European place come the end of the season under Mikel Arteta. West Ham are in the same boat, the Hammers have been in superb form all season under David Moyes and they will be looking to continue to fight on four fronts this term. They are a seriously good side, playing with confidence but Arsenal could just have the edge here.

Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match ($2.18)

Arsenal to win 2-1

Leicester City vs Tottenham โ€“ King Power Stadium

Leicester City ($2.15)

Tottenham ($3.5)

Draw ($3.76)

Leicester City will be looking to build on their big win over Newcastle last time out as they take on Tottenham. The Foxes have struggled for form at times this season, with crashing out of the Europa League last week the latest in a long string of poor performances but their win over Toon could be a turning point. They take on a Spurs side that have been ravaged by COVID 19 in recent weeks and what squad Antonio Conte has at his disposal remains somewhat of a mystery. This should be a decent game in the East Midlands, with the draw the most likely outcome.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.75)

1-1 Draw

Chelsea vs Everton โ€“ Stamford Bridge

Chelsea ($1.29)

Everton ($15)

Draw ($6.9)

Chelsea will be looking to build on their dramatic late win over Leeds last time out as they take on Everton. The blues havenโ€™t been at their best in the last couple of games, but they remain a very dangerous outfit, capable of challenging for titles and picking up results game by game will be key for Thomas Tuchel. Everton meanwhile are a side in relative limbo under Rafa Benitez and their inconsistency continues to hold them back, with their defeat at Crystal Palace their latest setback. This should be one way traffic in West London, as Chelsea should pick up another three points.

Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match ($1.29)

Chelsea to win 3-1

Liverpool vs Newcastle United โ€“ Anfield

Liverpool ($1.14)

Newcastle United ($27)

Draw ($10.3)

Liverpool will be looking to keep pace with Manchester City as they host Newcastle United. The reds had Mohamed Salah to thank once again for edging past Aston Villa last time out and they look to be a side in good form currently, all too aware that picking up points is their key objective in every game they play. Newcastle meanwhile have picked up their first win of the season under Eddie Howe but are yet to fully pull away from trouble and their defensive issues continue to appear all too aften. Liverpool should have no issues here in seeing off Newcastle.

Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match ($1.14)

Liverpool to win 3-0
