Following the final international break of the year, attention now turns to the races unfolding at the top and bottom of the Premier League table. Chelsea dropped points at home to Burnley last time out and with Liverpool losing too, Manchester City were the key beneficiaries in the week before the break. Tottenham still await their first league win under Antonio Conte, whilst Aston Villa are now under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard. Norwich have a new manager, in the form of former Villa boss Dean Smith but they still sit bottom of the table, level on points with Newcastle who are now managed by Eddie Howe.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:
EPL Week 12 Picks
Leicester City vs Chelsea – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($5)
Table topping Chelsea will be looking to find their form once more as they travel to Leicester City. The Foxes have struggled for consistency this term and find themselves down in 12th as a result – with 4 wins and 4 losses from 11 games played. They will be bang up for this one though, against a Chelsea side that have looked sublime at times this season but their inefficiency in front of goal cost them against Burnley. This should be a good game in the East Midlands and Chelsea should have enough quality to come out on top.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match ($1.81)
Chelsea to win 2-1
Aston Villa vs Brighton – Old Trafford
Aston Villa ($2.58)
Steven Gerrard’s first game in charge of Aston Villa is a tricky looking tie at home to Brighton. Villa decided to part ways with Dean Smith following a run of 5 consecutive defeats and they will be hoping Gerrard is the man to stop the rot. They welcome a Brighton side that were fortunate in many people’s eyes to pick up a point at home to Newcastle last time out but have been one of the success stories of the Premier League so far this season. This could be a very cagey encounter and whilst Villa will be buoyed by the arrival of Gerrard, Brighton should be good enough to claim a point.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.35)
Burnley vs Crystal Palace – Turf Moor
Crystal Palace ($2.66)
Two improving sides do battle as Burnley host Crystal Palace at Turf Moor. The Clarets have a habit of starting slowly and are starting to kick into gear, as they often do at this point in the season. They picked up a point at Chelsea last time out and beat Brentford in their last home game, suggesting things are coming together for Sean Dyche’s men. Palace meanwhile are riding the crest of a wave under Patrick Vieira and find themselves in the top half of the table. They will arrive in Lancashire full of confidence, but this should be a tight game, with the draw the most likely outcome.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.65)
Newcastle United vs Brentford – St James’s Park
Newcastle United ($2.75)
Newcastle’s first game under the stewardship of Eddie Howe promises to be a belter, as Newcastle host Brentford. Toon still await their first win of the season but showed real signs of progress in their draw on the road at Brighton last time out and will be looking to build on that here. By contrast, Brentford’s incredible start to the season looks in danger of being undone and their most recent loss to Norwich City will be a worry for Thomas Frank’s men. This is a tough game to predict but new managers often bring an upturn in form and Newcastle could pick up a valuable win here.
Betting tip: Newcastle United to win the match ($2.75)
Newcastle United to win 2-1
Norwich City vs Southampton – Carrow Road
Norwich City ($3.7)
Dean Smith’s first game in charge of Norwich City sees his Canaries take on the side he played last as Aston Villa manager – Southampton. Although they sit bottom of the table, Norwich did manage to win their last fixture on the road at Brentford and they will be eager to build on that result here. Southampton meanwhile have improved dramatically over the past few weeks and have climbed up to 13th in the table as a result. This should be a very good game in East Anglia, with a draw looking to be the most likely outcome.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.55)
Watford vs Manchester United – Vicarage Road
Manchester United ($1.54)
Manchester United will be eager to get back to winning ways as they travel to Watford. The Hornets have Claudio Ranieri in charge and were deemed by many as rather unlucky not to pick up at least a point from their visit to Arsenal last time out. They will need to be at their defensive best once more as they host a Manchester United side that will still be reeling from their Derby Day defeat to Manchester City. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a man under pressure but United tend to turn up in the key moments and they should prevail in North London here.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match ($1.54)
Manchester United to win 3-1
Wolves vs West Ham United – Molineux
West Ham United ($2.52)
High-flying West Ham United travel to Wolves, as they look to continue their superb start to the season. Hosts Wolves had won 5 games on the spin, prior to their defeat to Crystal Palace last time out and they will be looking to get back to winning ways here. West Ham meanwhile had too much for Liverpool prior to the international break and David Moyes’s side look to be purring once more this season, currently residing in 3rd. This should be a fascinating encounter in the West Midlands, between two well matched sides and a draw looks to be the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.4)
Liverpool vs Arsenal – Anfield
Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League as they take on in-form Arsenal. The reds were finally beaten in the top-flight this term last time out, as they were edged out by West Ham, but they have an insatiable habit of bouncing back when it matters. Arsenal meanwhile are unbeaten since the 3rd game of the season and some great recent performances have seen them climb up to 5th as a result, just one place and two points behind Liverpool. This should be the game of the round, but Liverpool tend to pull it out of the bag when it matters, and they could pick up an important win here.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match ($1.51)
Liverpool to win 2-1
Manchester City vs Everton – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.17)
Champions Manchester City will be doing all they can to build on their impressive Manchester Derby win as they host Everton. It hasn’t been plain sailing for City this season, but Pep Guardiola’s men have a habit of turning it on when it matters, and they will be raring to go after the international break. Everton meanwhile have been struggling in recent weeks and have plummeted into the bottom half of the table. They have been blighted by injuries and should come good soon, but City are a good side, and they should prevail in this one.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match ($1.17)
Arsenal to win 3-1
Tottenham Hotspur vs Leeds United – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Antonio Conte’s first Premier League home game in charge of Tottenham promises to be entertaining as they take on Leeds United. Spurs have endured a torrid start to the season, but they will be hoping the arrival of Conte is the catalyst for change as the busy festive season approaches. They welcome a Leeds side that have only won 2 games thus far this season and they will be hoping to climb away from relegation trouble sooner rather than later. This should be highly entertaining in North London, with Tottenham most likely to pick up all three points.
Betting tip: Tottenham to win the match ($1.77)
Tottenham to win 3-1
