The Premier League returned with a bang last weekend as Tottenham continued their surge up the table by securing a famous win over Manchester City. Liverpool checked Leicester into their place in emphatic place at Anfield whilst Manchester United and Chelsea picked up wins as they too look to climb the table. Southampton and Wolves also remain in contention at the top of the league whilst Burnley picked up their first win of the season over Crystal Palace. Sheffield United look to be in a world of trouble after yet another defeat whilst the wait for a first win of the season also continues for West Bromwich Albion.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:
EPL Week 10 Tips
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($2.4)
Newcastle United ($3.5)
Two sides looking to get back to winning ways face off as Crystal Palace host Newcastle United. The Eagles looked uninspired in defeat at Burnley last time out and their inconsistency continues to be a real bug bear for Roy Hodgson and his men. Newcastle United meanwhile will be looking to add to their tally of 11 points for the season. They were well beaten last time out by Chelsea and will be all too aware of how much they need to improve here. This could be a tight game with Crystal Palace most likely to come out on top at home.
Betting tip: Crystal Palace to win the match ($2.4)
Crystal Palace to win 2-1
Brighton vs Liverpool – AMEX Stadium
Following their win at high flying Aston Villa last time out, Brighton take on Liverpool in what promises to be a fascinating encounter at the AMEX Stadium. Brighton showed real resolve to win at Villa Park, but they are a side that often lack consistency and they will be hoping to put in a strong home showing here. Liverpool meanwhile came through a tough test at home to Leicester City with relative ease and they will want to start picking up points regularly as they hope to defend their title. Brighton will make this tough for Liverpool, but the reds are too good in the Premier League and should prevail here.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match and both teams to score ($2.3)
Liverpool to win 3-1
Manchester City vs Burnley – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.18)
Problems are starting to appear in the Manchester City machine, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways as they host Burnley. Whilst their European record this season has been perfect, the blues are struggling domestically, and they will be hoping the return of Sergio Aguero can inspire them here. Burnley are a side growing in confidence every week and their win over Crystal Palace last time out certainly gives them something to build upon this term. City should be way too good at home though, especially with a bit of a bee in their bonnet.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match to nil ($1.65)
Manchester City to win 3-0
Everton vs Leeds United – Goodison Park
Leeds United ($3.8)
Everton host Leeds as both sides look to build on encouraging starts to the season. The Toffees wobbled somewhat in their last couple of games but their gritty win at Fulham last time out is testament to the progress they are making under Carlo Ancelotti this season. For Leeds meanwhile, the boundaries continue to be pushed as they were very unlucky to come away from a home game with Arsenal with just a point. The Whites look to be more than holding their own in the Premier League and they will fancy their chances here. Everton though are a canny side, and they should just about have too much for the Yorkshiremen here.
Betting tip: Everton to win the match and both teams to score ($2.8)
Everton to win 2-1
West Bromwich Albion vs Sheffield United – The Hawthorns
West Bromwich Albion ($2.66)
Sheffield United ($3)
The bottom two sides in the Premier League face off as West Bromwich Albion host Sheffield United. The Baggies are still awaiting their first win of the season but seem to be growing in confidence under Slavan Bilic. They pushed Manchester United all the way last time out, but the lack of goals and points will concern them. For Sheffield United meanwhile, it is a similar picture, and the Blades are beginning to look a shadow of their former selves’ last season. With only 1 point on the board from 9 games, it is now or never for Chris Wilder’s side. This could be an attritional encounter with a draw looking the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.25)
Southampton vs Manchester United – St Mary’s Stadium
Manchester United ($2)
Two sides that will be looking to compete for European football come the end of the season face off as Southampton host Manchester United. The Saints have been one of the surprise packages this season and following their draw with Wolves last time out, they sit in the top 6 of the table. Manchester United meanwhile are an improving side and their win over West Bromwich Albion last time out was an indicator of their progress in recent weeks. Southampton will push United here, but the Red Devils are looking strong and should prevail in this one.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match ($2)
Manchester United to win 2-1
Chelsea vs Tottenham – Stamford Bridge
A London Derby is the headline fixture in the Premier League as Chelsea take on Tottenham. Both sides have started the season well and they will be keen to continue to build as the season progresses. Chelsea are finding their feet under Frank Lampard and their 2-0 win at Newcastle last time out underlined their serious improvement this season. Tottenham meanwhile should be full of confidence heading into this one, having beaten Manchester City last time out but sustained consistency for Jose Mourinho’s side is something they have lacked for the past few seasons. This should be a tight game in West London with the draw looking the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6)
Arsenal vs Wolves – Emirates Stadium
Arsenal take on Wolves at the Emirates as both sides look to develop consistency and surge up the table. The Gunners showed resolve to pick up a point at Leeds last time out but their lack of cutting edge has cost them on a few occasions this season. They take on a Wolves side that have been in decent form this term without hitting the heights of last season and they will be hoping to put pressure on Arsenal from the off at the Emirates. Both sides should get the ball down and play here and this could be a very entertaining fixture.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.4)
Leicester City vs Fulham – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($1.58)
Leicester City will be looking to bounce back from a chastening defeat to Liverpool as they take on Fulham at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes have had some excellent results this season, but their home form hasn’t been too strong – something they will be looking to rectify here. Fulham meanwhile showed more attacking endeavour against Everton but still came up short and Scott Parker will be looking for his side to continue to improve as the season goes on. Leicester are a good side, and they could put Fulham to the sword here.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match to nil ($2.3)
Leicester City to win 3-0
West Ham United vs Aston Villa – London Olympic Stadium
West Ham United ($2.35)
Aston Villa ($3.1)
West Ham will be looking to build on their upturn in results as they take on Aston Villa at the London Olympic Stadium. The Hammers dug deep to beat Sheffield United last time out and their overall performance level has improved markedly in recent weeks. Villa meanwhile suffered a shock home defeat to Brighton last time out and the relative lack of consistency shown by the Villains will be a concern for Dean Smith. This could be a very good game between two good sides and a draw looks to be the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.7)
