2022 F1 Canadian Grand Prix Betting Tips & Predictions

Venue: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Canada.
Race Date: 19th June 2022

The Canadian Grand Prix finds itself back on the Formula 1 calendar and once again, a whole host of big names will be battling for supremacy. Max Verstappen’s win at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last time out strengthened his current hold on the Driver’s Championship but there is still plenty of racing ahead for everyone on the grid. Ferrari arrive in Canada, keen to get rid of their engine problems whilst for the likes of Mercedes and McLaren, a change of scenery could be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Predictions

F1 Canadian Grand Prix Race Winner

In race nine of the 2022 Formula One season, all of the biggest names on the grid will be battling for supremacy here in Canada:

Max Verstappen – $1.95

With 5 wins from 8 races already this term, Max Verstappen looks to have the Driver’s Championship in his own hands once more. The Dutchman has benefitted from Ferrari mistakes in recent weeks but his win in Baku last time out, was a stark reminder of the qualities he possesses. Speed will be key in Canada and Verstappen has it in its droves, making him the justified favourite here at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Charles Leclerc – $3.50

It has been a tough few weeks for Charles Leclerc, who has seen his Championship lead fall apart in the last few races. He has battled with car problems, poor logistical decisions from his Ferrari officials and some inconsistent driving performances and he is now very much playing catch up in the Driver’s Championship. Conditions in Canada should suit though, and punters would be naïve to rule out Charles Leclerc just yet.

Sergio Perez – $5.00

It has been a few seasons since two drivers at one team look to have a chance of winning any race, they come into, but Red Bull are currently blessed with that situation. Sergio Perez has really stepped up to the plate for Red Bull this season and he is pushing Max Verstappen to a whole new level too. Perez finished second in Baku and won in Monaco the week before, making him a serious candidate here in Canada.

F1 Canadian Grand Prix Top Six Finish

Race 9 of the season here at the circuit named after F1 legend Gilles Villeneuve presents an opportunity for every driver to keep putting points on the board:

Carlos Sainz – $1.40

Ferrari have huffed and puffed at times this season, but Carlos Sainz has been very consistent throughout. Whilst the Spaniard isn’t able to get as much out of the car as Charles Leclerc, he has put plenty of excellent performances on the board already this term and he keeps picking up points – making him a serious top 6 candidate here in Canada.

George Russell – $1.40

Picking up back to back podium finishes in recent weeks should do George Russell the world of good, with the Brit looking to get to grips with the Mercedes car. Consistently outperforming Lewis Hamilton is no mean feat and Russell looks to have the bit between his teeth this term. This is clearly a transitional season for Mercedes, but Russell looks to be the future of the team and consistent performances will only solidify that notion.

Lando Norris – $2.25

Fellow Brit Lando Norris is another of the most exciting drivers on the grid, but he has endured his struggles with McLaren this season too. Some have been self-inflicted, whilst others have been due to mechanical failure, but Norris clearly needs to develop his consistency at this level and a top 6 finish here at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Canada, would go a long way towards doing just that.

F1 Canadian Grand Prix Best Bets:

Race Winner: Max Verstappen – $1.95

Top Six Finish: Lando Norris – $2.25
